Is there anything more exciting than booking the spring break? Suppose you have just shouted “NO” on your laptop screen or your phone because there is nothing better than booking flights, booking the cabin and booking the tanning spray treatment before the holiday (it has to be done). As you approach your spring break trip, you seem to feel the heat of the scorching sun, feel sand between your toes and see the ice in your tropical drinks melting prematurely. Unfortunately, on this day things look a little different. Yes, it is raining. But don’t be afraid, because the rain must not spoil your journey.
Start your book club.
Okay, the reading may not be the first thing you expected on spring break, but for the last six months, you have been doing a stack of books by your bed. A trip in the rain is a great way to start your book club with friends. You can go to a quiet corner of the cabin and read the first few chapters alone, then get back together and chat about why a particular character hasn’t kissed the girl she loves.
Binge drinking on a new series
Need an excuse to gobble up a new shipment on Netflix? Probably not, but a rainy spring break is an excuse worth making. Instead of basking in the fact that you can’t go to the beach, bring your best friends, sit on the couch with a big bowl of popcorn, and imagine Friends every season. Could this be even more fun?
You can pump up the endorphins.
And what is the best way to do that? Practice, of course. If you’re not the kind of person who gets up in the morning to go running, sweating can make you want to have fun in the rain, and that shouldn’t be too extravagant. Your boyfriend might be able to slow you down with a doughnut waiting for you every step of the way. That or a glass of wine. Whatever floats your boat.
It is not often that you get the opportunity to do nothing, so you can also use it to let someone else spoil you for the day. Yuh-huh, take you and your friend to the local spa to do some crazy things with your life. Swim, take a steam bath, get a massage and, if you feel like it, a facial. Knock yourself out.
Try a local museum
Museums have such a bad reputation these days that we feel a little sorry for them. Even if we live in a culture where it is easier to view a work of art or an artifact from a telephone, there is nothing better than going to a local museum and making its culture work. You never know, it might be something a little strange, like a doll museum or a chocolate museum. I bet you probably hope it’s the latter.
Just because it rains during spring break doesn’t mean you should consider the trip pointless. No, it will allow you to make the most of your time with your friends and relax like never before. You know you want it.
